Currently working on the Cable Car Station. Yesterday developed tooling to allow export/positioning of models precisely in-world which will be necessary due to station being at an angle inworld I went to sleep immediately after RL work yesterday so I could wake up early and put my energy into this. I have begun chopping up the new mesh station into smaller parts to allow it to drop through LOD Models and keep the LI down. Making Physics mesh too. The station will start with some provisional textures. The whole town island will need re-uploading due to the new shape/entry location of the station.3 points

Managed to get it up. Only took all night. Well, that's enough battles for one night. An initial look at the Uniform in world the rigging seems OK, with a few minor issues, but for the most part servicable. Textures to go!2 points

On Ota-Con To me, anime and manga are an art-form and a form of story telling with traditions and roots in Japan. It was never something that was meant to be sold and presented to you in the form of a professional fashion boutique or a perfume in a perfume store. On SecondLife, it was a small hobby amongst like-minded friends, and a niche one at that. We squabble sometimes, but it is a community, we do know each other and often work together. It was never some big money spinning operation designed to be sold to everyone on the grid. We were never trying to get rich off this, but just make enough to sustain our own communities. The outfits sold at Ota-Con are primarily ones from anime's about stories of fleeting youth, think school animes etc. And yet they are depicted on the bodies of mature adults, with realistic shading. The Maitreyas and the Legacy's of the world. No self respecting anime artist would honestly draw this, and the only conclusion I can reach is that these events are not for people who care about these things, but rather people who just want to play dress-up and that's about as deep as it goes. I've long wanted to get more people into creating things in SecondLife, but the message these events send is that creating things is just an exclusive thing for the professionals of SecondLife. Nobody is seeing creators in these events, trials and tribulations, just shiny products - This isn't the realm of ordinary people engaging in a community but professionals who have a final product to sell you in a showroom. Not to mention that these normie bodies they use, are ones that creators kits are exclusive items that require the approval of the store owner to receive. That's not to say that there are no redeeming things at Ota-con, and I know that even some of my friends contributed items towards it. However, when I visit Ota-Con I do not feel that I am surrounded by like minded people, or that this event was targeted towards people like me, but rather we are an after-thought. It is somewhat alienating. Mizuki had put a poster up to advertise Ota-Con in our sim, and I had mixed feelings but having visited Ota-Con my mind has been made. I know that Mizuki and Ni had contributed towards the Gura outfit. In the end Kokoro Academy does not endorse Ota-Con in its current form and that is why I took Mizuki's poster down. I hope there are no hard feelings. It's just something I can't support.1 point

It's the weekend! Time to work on Uniforms Viewer can't log into Beta Grid OK... Maybe not Uniforms after all.. Plan B! Lets buy the pages addon for the site so I can work on a Knowledgebase! Your payment was accepted, but a member of staff needs to approve this purchase ... The day is off to a productive start.. Maybe I can work on the ticket system1 point

Ticket System We're thinking about a new system is being thought about that would affect the way that new visitors visit the School Campus The Problem When Kokoro's doors were open, we would often have guests who would come to 'be around' our students, but would not make an effort to socialize or let our students get to know them. This resulted in social suffocation as nobody wants to talk about personal matters with their friends around strangers. Kokoro became busier in recent months and had started to see heavier traffic, we began to see crowds forming on campus of effectively strangers who are not integrated into Kokoro. Such people often gain a sense of entitlement from simply having spent time being there which as an admin means constantly confronting people about their behavior and trying to get them integrated which can be overwhelming. In the end the requirement for so much active effort on our side and what students were putting up with became too much and we simply closed our doors. That is a problem in itself as it stops new people from having a chance. The Proposed Solution We would have a ticket system at Seiiki's Cable Car Station. Guests who are not students would be required to obtain a ticket from the ticket machine to pass through the ticket barriers and travel into school grounds on the cable car. The machine would only issue a limited number of these tickets per guest per month. By limiting how often a guest can visit school grounds per month by default, it changes our relationship with problematic guests and places the burden of making an effort and integration on them. A guest would therefor have to show enough good will during their stay that students will vouch for them to stay and be given a chance. It is hoped that such a solution would reduce the stress felt by us as sim traffic increases providing a more manageable situation to socialization of guests - We want to grow our community and welcome new people in, but we want to do it at a sustainable rate and maintain an enjoyable environment for our students.1 point

System stuff - Experience Requirement Further to my recent post about the new camera distance limit, I've added a system to ensure everyone on sim is in the Experience today to ensure the feature works. Teleporting new friends What happens if you teleport a friend to Kokoro who has never been before and is not in the Experience? There's a little bit of intelligence under the hood. Here's what will happen:- When they teleport in, the system will detect they are not in the Experience, and prompt them to go to the newbie area to join it. Once they join, instead of being sent to the spawn the system will send them back to where you teleported them to. Note, if your friend ignores the prompt, they will be teleported home after ~30s. They will have a link to the spawn where they can join the Experience. The system will teleport them back to you once they join.1 point
